Well, it’s more than a month into the new year and I’m just now sitting down to write again?! Sorry guys!! It’s been a very busy start to the year so far.
Each year I like to review my planned races and goals I want to accomplish for the year. I am excited for the new opportunities I have coming my way. The first exciting thing I have on my plate is that I am directing my first race! 🙂 So exciting!!! I recently was handed the reins of the HARRC After Dark 7K run by Harrisburg Area Road Runners Club. I have begun the steps of making this race happen and I am very excited for August 16th to get here. I have connected with some local businesses in order to arrange a super fun post-race celebration. 🙂 That is obviously not taking place until August, but it still gives me plenty to do between now and then!
Another exciting new opportunity is helping out my friends at Fleet Feet Mechanicsburg with their planning of the Catfish Triathlon in July of this year! I am definitely learning a lot of new things with planning these two races this year. I look forward to seeing what the future brings! 🙂
Since returning to running, post-ankle injury I have been taking it slow and easy, so I haven’t really signed up for many races yet. I want to wait and see how things go first after I really get back into the miles again. I will be attempting the Lucky Charm 10K again this year and hopefully I will be well enough to actually run the race this time!!! April is bringing the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler and Louisville Mini Marathon. I CANNOT wait! 🙂 I will be in D.C. for the Road Runners Club of America Convention and as part of registration for the event, I was given a guaranteed entry to the race. Louisville, Kentucky is my hometown and I love visiting there. I am looking forward to running on the inside track of Churchill Downs (home of the Kentucky Derby, for those unfamiliar).
In May, I will be traveling out to Pittsburgh again for the Half and Full Marathon, but this time, as a spectator. It remains on my birthday weekend, so I look forward to having the whole weekend to celebrate with friends! 🙂 June brings Eagle Up Ultra again. Hopefully this year, I will actually get to run the race. I do really want the challenge of this race. I really want to keep myself healthy enough to be able to put forth a genuine effort. That’s all I have set and planned for now and look forward to what 2018 has to bring. 🙂
